Chasing Tour Jerseys (Season 32)

Written by California Mist at 08:36 24/2-2015

It's been a couple of seasons since our last press release, and much has happened in this time. We're not going to fill in all the blanks, but what can be said is that manager Knotts lost a lot of time for OCM, and some interest in the game. Our team suffered, with DP, jobs taking to long to complete and missing out on a number of riders we would have liked to sign.

Despite this, we retained our position in Zyte division during seasons 29 and 30. The current season (31) started very well for California Mist, with achieving promotion to top division fairly early into it. This brought more complications as we hadn't planned for the promotion , and as a result decided to give our star riders a well deserved holiday ready for a big assault in season 31. It also enabled us to give Terrence Clement a chance as captain, having just finished training him. The downhill/hiller/all rounder is a future World Championship contender, and we are proud on his debut for the USA he brought home a victory in Argentina last week. He has been on the podium for us a couple of times so far, but that was his 1st time standing on the top step. We thank Bubba, (Super Velo), for giving him the opportunity, and it's only helped his confidence and experience.

Now to talk about the future, and in particular our objectives for season 32. This will be the last season for the current generation of riders here, before manager Knotts embarks on a new venture which were excited about. We want to make this a season to remember and that's why so much planning has gone into it.

A late decision was made to target Giro do Montelbano (Div 3 Italy tour - Day 16) at the start of the season. This happened when Alan Klostergard became available for transfer. The defending champion, despite his age will be given the chance to defend his crown, with support of experienced Cymru/Essex captains. This will be California Mists first time competing in the tour, and we're targeting the GC Jersey for our Palmeras.

Meanwhile the climbing squad will head to Portugal for the Volta (Div 2 tour - Day 17). Roman Caso will be aiming for better early season form than this year where he finished 9th in GC. This time were targeting a top 3 in the GC. Anything more than this will be a bonus.

Depending on how this part of the season goes, will then dictate whether Jonathan Bullock will captain in Cymru Taith or Nick Boison will get the chance in Vuelta de Los Castilos. It is also possible for us to take part in both providing everything goes to plan. Top 9's in both has to be the objective.

Next up would be Essex with De Nooy captaining the squad. We have a soft spot for him, with his history of being trained here, and is only behind Kristian Roels (Dingjetes) and Clement as our best trainees. We will be doing everything possible to put him on the final podium.

We would love to get into Germany tour, as would be a great way to say goodbye to our current squad and reward them for there great work and service to the team. No real expectations, just hope to be there.

And finally, in the last race of the season Terrance Clement will get his 1st shot at the world championship Jersey. The location of the race hasn't been decided yet, so we can't scout the route, but this is something Clement will be doing early into next season.

Of course for all of these events to happen, we will need the early results and a lot of luck on our side throughout the season.
